Good practice guide - PD 6699-2 published

The British Standards Institute today published the first publicly available extensive guide to safe handling of nanomaterials.  PD 6699-2:2007 Nanotechnologies – Part 2: Guide to safe handling and disposal of manufactured nanomaterials provides step-by-step guidance through the general approach to management of risks, information needs, hazard assessment, measurement of exposure, methods of control and disposal. It is intended to help manufacturers and users work with nanomaterials in a safe and responsible way.

The guide was drafted by the SAFENANO team before approval by BSI Committee NTI/1, Nanotechnologies.

The guide is available to download for free from the BSI site at http://www.bsi-global.com/en/Standards-and-Publications/Industry-Sectors/Nanotechnologies/Nano-Downloads/

This guide is intended to provide practical pragmatic advice to users at a time when there are still huge gaps in the knowledge base. We don’t doubt that there will be critics that it is to cautious, or that it is not cautious enough!

So what is your view? Is it helpful, is it too cautious, is it not cautious enough and how can it be improved. We really want your views. Please download the guide and leave your comments here.
